Student Travelers View “Blueprints to Our Past Tour” at Chicago Museum
Student tours get to know the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere this month as Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry begins its Blueprints to Our Past tour set. The tours will take students both in and outside (weather permitting) the museum to explore its origins as the Palace of Fine Arts for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
The 90-minute tour, perfect for students of history, architecture, and those simply intrigued by Chicago’s rich history, uses the building’s architecture as a guide for a story that spans over 100 years, two World Fairs, and more than 400,000 square feet of exhibit space. The tour will also include a virtual simulation of the 1893 fair’s famous White City, created by Lisa M. Snyder of the Urban Simulation Team at UCLA.
Tickets, which include general admission to the museum, are $40.00 per person. Discounted student group rates are available, as are additional tour dates and private VIP tours. For more information contact Group Sales at groupsales@msichicago.org.
