Student Tours Explore the Deep South in Atlanta

Overflowing with culture and history, Georgia’s capital city is located in the heart of the state and serves as a huge draw for all types of activities. Student performance groups can take advantage of the many theaters and musical venues offered in the area. After the performance, students can enjoy the city’s numerous attractions, ranging from historical tours to amusement parks. A trip to this hub of the South is a must and promises tons of fun for youth groups.

PLACES FOR STUDENT GROUPS TO PERFORM IN  ATLANTA:

John A. Williams Theatre. Located inside the Cobb Energy Centre in downtown Atlanta, this 2,750-seat theater can accommodate musical,theatrical and dance performances. The theater features orchestra , mezzanine, grand tier and private box seating. Youth performance groups can rent the facility but should do so far in advance as the theater is a popular spot for a variety of events.

ATLANTA PLACES TO PARADE:

Atlanta Dogwood Festival. This weekend-long festival is held in early April during the bloom of the dogwoods. Youth performance groups can apply to be a part of the festival entertainment, which is held in Piedmont Park.  Students can also enjoy the festival’s food, craft fair and competitions.

PLACES FOR YOUTH GROUPS TO HAVE FUN IN ATLANTA:

Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water. These parks are located just outside of Atlanta in Austell and Marietta, respectively. Youth groups can parade and perform in Six Flags Over Georgia, then enjoy 30 rides, shows, concerts, games, shops and food in the park. Groups can head to Six Flags White Water to splash around in the 50-acre water park,which features lazy rivers, tube and body slides, raft rides, activity pools, and a 750,000- gallon wave pool. Group rates are available in both parks.

PLACES FOR STUDENT GROUPS TO STAY:

Atlanta offers over 140 hotels with 30 in the downtown area. All major hotel brands are represented with a variety of price ranges.
